These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Dawam mobile application (“the App”). By downloading or using Dawam, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App

Dawam helps you build a consistent Quran reading habit. Features may include reading tools, progress logging, Hifdh practice, prayer times, local reminders, Adhan audio when the App is open, Apple widgets / Live Activity / Watch surfaces (Apple only), and an in-app Coach.

Dawam does not require an account and does not offer in-app purchases in this version.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Dawam on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and App Store / Play Store rules.

Not religious or medical authority

Dawam provides tools and encouragement for personal practice. It is not a substitute for qualified Islamic scholarship, fatwa services, or medical / mental-health advice. Prayer times are approximate calculations based on the method implemented in the App and your location settings.

Coach

Offline Coach runs on device from your local reading logs.
Online Coach (when enabled in your build and after your consent) sends messages and reading context to OpenAI to generate replies.

Coach may be wrong, incomplete, or unavailable. Do not rely on Coach for emergency, legal, medical, or binding religious rulings.

Your responsibilities

Use the App lawfully and respectfully
Do not abuse online Coach (spam, scraping, jailbreaks, or excessive automated use)
Do not submit unlawful content in Coach prompts
Keep your device secure; local data lives on the device you control

Location, notifications, and audio

Optional permissions power prayer times, reminders, and Adhan playback. You can deny permissions or change Settings; some features may then be limited.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how information is handled, including local storage, location, and OpenAI for online Coach.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, accurate prayer times in all conditions, or uninterrupted online Coach availability.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH MAY BE ZERO IF THE APP IS FREE).

Termination and changes

You may stop using the App at any time. We may stop offering the App or particular features (including online Coach) at any time. We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms where permitted by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence apply.
